  • Karina Aguilar, 38, of McPherson, passed away at 2:01 p.m., Thursday, April 11, suddenly, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Reno County.
    Karina was born in Mexico City, Mexico on Nov. 21, 1974, the daughter of M. Trinidad (Santillan) Leon and Luis Aguilar.
    Karina attended the San Jose de la Paz Jal, Mexico grade schools and graduated Benito Juarez High School San Jose de la Paz Jal, Mexico.
    She was a member of New Hope Evangelical Church McPherson.
    Karina was a homemaker and worked as a waitress and server for her family’s business, La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant in McPherson.
    Karina was currently in the Circles of McPherson. Karina loved to sing, play guitar and write songs. She was very creative with her hands and enjoyed making jewelry.  She loved helping people and enjoyed her cats and loved all animals. Karina always looked at the good side of things and was happy most of the time.  She had a good sense of humor and loved life.
    Surviving family members include her children, Danny C. Garcia, Shekinah E. Garcia, and Emmanuel L. Garcia, all of McPherson;  her mother, M. Trinidad Santillan Leon, of Mexico; her father, Luis Aguilar, of Mexico; her siblings, Joel Santillan and his wife Josefina Perez, of McPherson, Juan Santillan and his wife Cindy, of McPherson, Hugo Santillan, of Mexico, Yesenia “Jessy” Delgado, of McPherson, and Eloisa Hernandez and her husband Ruben, of Winston Salem, N.C.; many aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces, other relatives and a host of friends.
    Karina was preceded in death by her sister, Maricela Delgado.
    Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17th, 2013, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson.
    The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 18th at New Hope Evangelical Church, McPherson, with Pastor Jim Keil officiating.
    The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Karina Aguilar Memorial Fund, and they can be sent in care of the Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home; 222 W. Euclid St.; McPherson, KS 67460.
