At 4:22 p.m. Friday, officers, deputies, a Canton officer, a Moundridge officer and a Kansas Highway Patrol officer responded to a report of a stolen vehicle. Stolen was a 1996 Chevy Pickup, valued at $5,800, from the 2100 block of East Kansas. The vehicle was later recovered in Harvey County after a deputy recognized the driver, who had a no bond warrant in Harvey County. The deputy pulled the vehicle over and arrested the suspect on the Harvey County warrant. McPherson officers later returned the stolen vehicle to its rightful owner.
At 7:17 p.m. Friday, deputies, firefighters, a Moundridge officer and Moundridge EMS personnel responded to a farm accident at 2214 Arapaho Road. Wayne Niehage, 66, was working on his truck when the dump bed fell on him. The accident resulted in Niehage’s death.
