Velda M. Plett, 81, died at her home in Sterling on April 12.
She was born on May 5, 1931, in Conway to Elmer and Beulah Hylton Mills.
She lived in Sterling since 1954.
She was a graduate of Windom High School, and was a homemaker. She also was a member of the Sterling Women’s Bowling Association.
She also was a Bloodmobile volunteer and an election board volunteer.
She was married to LeRoy K. Plett on June 7, 1948, in Minneapolis, Kan. Her husband died on Aug. 12, 1994.
Plett is survived by her son, John, of Sterling; daughters Sherry Trafford of Vinton, Iowa, and Jenny Pralle of Breman; brother Vernon Mills, of McPherson, sister Veola Carlson of McPherson; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Plett is preceded in death by daughter Ramona Mehringer; infant son Bobby; and two grandsons, Eric Wayne Pralle and Mathew Mehringer.
Services will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Birzer Funeral Home in Sterling. Reverend Kendal Conner will be officiating the service.
At her request, her body was donated to Kansas University Medical Center, and will be buried in Sterling Community Cemetery at a later date.
