McPherson police

At 8:52 p.m. Tuesday, an officer arrested Toby L. Jones, 23, on a McPherson Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear. Jones was released after posting a $1,300 bond.


At 7:23 a.m. Tuesday, a deputy, EMS personnel, firefighters and Kansas Highway Patrol officers responded to an injury accident at the Highway K-61 and Old 81 Highway exit. The accident involved Joni M. Giovannini of Enid, Oklahoma. Giovannini was reportedly heading west on Highway K-61 when she struck a bridge for unknown reasons, crossed into the median and struck a guardrail in the center median. EMS transported her to McPherson Hospital. The extent of her injuries are unknown at this time.

At 6:13 p.m. Tuesday, deputies, firefighters and Kansas Highway Patrol officers responded to a tanker explosion inside Rice County, approximately 1.5 miles west of Windom. The accident involved Clinton Koehn of McPherson. Koehn was reportedly driving a tanker truck heading west on Highway 56 when the truck went off the roadway onto the shoulder, struck a concrete culvert, overturned and caught fire. The accident killed Koehn; whether he died from the fire or the impact is unknown at this time.
