  • Central Christian College looked to take the rubber match from Friends University Tuesday night, but came up short 11-10.
The Tigers and Falcons had split the previous two meetings, the Tigers winning the first game while the Falcons took the second.
In the third and final installment, the Falcons jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead before the Tigers got on the board in the top of the fourth inning.
Central took the lead from the Falcons 9-3 when they blew the game wide open by scoring eight runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Friends refused to go away. They added two runs in the bottom of the fifth and then two in each of the final three innings.
The Tigers added a tenth run in the top of the ninth to take a 10-9 lead going into the final half inning.
In the bottom of the ninth the Tigers had two outs with runners on first and second. A ground ball to short took a funny hop, forcing Martin Guevara to make a throw on his heels.
The throw to first went wild, and the error allowed the Falcons to tie up the game 10-10 with runners on second and third. The Falcons loaded the bases on the next play and then scored on a walk at the next at-bat.
Austin Penn took the loss, working the final inning and giving up the two winning runs.
The Tigers are now 13-33 on the season.
They will wrap up the conference portion of the spring this weekend when they travel to Point Lookout,
Missouri to face off against College Ozarks in a four game series.
