  • The McPherson Middle School track and field teams put on a show Monday at McPherson Stadium, as the girls took first and the boys second overall.
    The seventh grade girls racked up 109 points for first place, while the boys had 125, also capturing first.
    In the eighth grade division, the Bullpup girls outdistanced the field with 130 total points, while the boys finished seventh with 31.
    Individual standouts for the Pups were seventh grader Aislinn Hughes, who captured four gold medals, placing first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.8 seconds, the 100 (13.7), 200 (28.4) and long jump (13 feet, 10 1/4 inches). Mandi Cooks was first in the high jump with a height of 4 feet, 4 inches.
    Devin Cape had two first place finishes in the 200 (26.6) and the long jump (15 feet, 9 inches) for the seventh boys. Andrew Powell got gold in the 100 (13.2), while Drew Labertew was first in the triple jump (31 feet, 7 inches).
    The seventh grade boys 4x100 (51.6) and 4x200 (1:53.3) relays also both brought home gold medals.
    Kamryn Collins led the eighth grade girls with first place finishes in the 100 (13.73) and 400 (1:08.6) individually. She was also part of the first place 4x100 (55) and distance relays (5:09.5).
    Alexis Simpson took first in the 100 hurdles (17.92) for the eighth graders, as did Rilynn Anderson in the 200 (29.5) and Emma Ellet in the shot put (33 feet, 10 inches). The 4x200 relay team also took first (2:02).
    The top eighth boys effort game from Chris Kirchner in the 1600, where he finished second (12.5).
     
    The next meet for the Bullpups is Tuesday at Great Bend.
