Smoky Valley had a solid day behind the arm of senior Eryn Stockman in splitting a Tuesday doubleheader at Lyons.
The Vikings and the Lions were tied at 3-3 after the end of the seventh inning of game one, and Smoky Valley looked to win it in the top of the eighth after scoring. However, Lyons managed to score twice in the bottom of the frame to claim the win 5-4.
The Vikings (3-3, 3-3 CKL) were clinging to a 6-5 lead heading into the sixth inning, where they managed to score three and held off a Lyons rally in the bottom of the frame to win 9-7.
Stockman picked up the win in both games, notching 28 total strikeouts in the process.
She also went 5-for-5 hitting between the two games with two doubles, a home run, four RBI’s and four runs scored.
The Vikings were to have traveled to Hillsboro Thursday, but the inclement weather has postponed that game to May 6.
