The McPherson High girls 200-yard freestyle relay team qualified for state, as the combined Bullpup and Smoky Valley team continues to put up impressive numbers in meets.
The team of Alex Underwood, Katie Wurm, Sarah Alquist and Cheyenne Regier swam the relay in a time of 1 minute, 58.22 seconds to take sixth and qualify for state next month.
Regier had the best finish out of all the swimmers with a second place finish in the 100 freestyle (1:00.79).
Smoky Valley’s Claire Denk continues to shine in meets, as well, as she took third in the 500 freestyle (6:28.85) and fourth in the 200 freestyle (2:12.81), the latter good enough to qualify for state.
Denk, along with Shea Cook, Logann Stambaugh and Baliy Boldon, also finished third in the 200 freestyle relay (1:56.07).
The Pups are off until Friday, when they will travel to Barton County Community College for the Great Bend Invitational.
