  • McPherson Public Works director Doug Whitacre has been offered a position as public works director for Topeka.

  • McPherson Public Works director Doug Whitacre has been offered a position as public works director for Topeka.
    Topeka’s current public works director, Mike Teply, will be retiring on Tuesday, according to the Topeka Capital-Journal.
    When asked for comment, Whitacre confirmed that he was offered the position, and said that city commissioners had been notified of the offer.
    Whitacre declined to comment further on the offer.
