  • The Central Christian College men's tennis team will participate in the inaugural NCCAA Central Region tennis tournament hosted by McMurry University in Abilene, Texas.
This is the first year that participation in the NCCAA National Tennis Championships will be determined by regional play, meaning whoever wins the regional tournament goes on to represent the Central Region at the national tournament in Mobile, Ala., May 6-10.
The Tigers will have an uphill battle as they will face two very talented NCAA division II teams in the McMurray University War Hawks, and the Dallas Baptist University Patriots.
The War Hawks made the jump from NCAA DIII to DII this year, and compiled a 9-7 season record. They are currently ranked No. 6 in the latest NCCAA Tennis Poll.
The DBU Patriots have struggled to a 4-19 season record, but have played some very tough opponents.
The Tigers were to have squared off against the War Hawks on this morning at 10 a.m. Results were unavailable at presstime.
Central will face the Patriots on Saturday at noon.
