McPherson College stumbled in game one of a four-game home-away series with Sterling Friday night, falling 6-1 at Light Capital Diamonds before rain forced the postponement of game two.
Sterling jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead by the end of the second quarter, and added one run in each of the fourth and seventh innings.
McPherson’s lone run came off an Andrew Pina solo home run in the bottom of the seventh over the fence at center field.
Nolan Huelsmann took the loss, giving up six runs off 11 hits in seven innings of work.
McPherson falls to 19-26, 11-14 in the KCAC.
The series will shift to Sterling for the next two games this afternoon, though no word was given as of presstime as to when and where Friday’s game two would be made up.
The Mac College softball team continued their late season surge Friday, winning 8-2 also against Sterling.
No further information was available, though game two was also called off due to the weather.
The series will also move to Sterling for a doubleheader this afternoon. Again, no word was available as to the fate of Friday’s second game.
The softball team, currently in the midst of a three game win streak, moves to 8-20 on the year, 4-11 in the KCAC.
