Though I quietly lay by blue water,
I’ll not be discovered by an otter.
Though we have streams and lakes
      With ganders and drakes
If you’re cold, I just hope you get hotter.

  • The All School’s Day Board to announced for the special 100th anniversary, it is bringing back the Button Hunt.
This event was a staple of the May activities in the past, but had to be cancelled after several years of incurring unnecessary damage and expense to private property within the county.
The Button Hunt committee, lead by Megan Anderson of Kansas Secured Title, is going out of its way to ensure all potential button-hunters know the button is hidden on public land, and it will be hidden in plain sight, meaning that no digging or destruction of any kind is needed to find it. The committee also is stressing since All School’s Day is a county-wide event, the entirety of McPherson County is fair game in the search.
This year, Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System is sponsoring the hunt, which helps to off-set much of the $500 prize to the winner.
In order to claim the prize, the individual who turns the button in will be required to have purchased a hunting license available for $5. You must have an All Schools Day pin, which costs $2, in order to purchase a license.
The licenses are available at the Chamber of Commerce, the office of the McPherson Sentinel and at Sunflower Bank. If no one has found the button by the time that the All School’s Day events are over, a name will be randomly drawn from those who purchased licenses and half the prize money will be awarded to that individual.
The clues will appear daily in the McPherson Sentinel starting today (see right) and run through May 9 or until the button is found. The clues also are being aired on Mid-Kansas Radio, 96.7 FM, KBBE, and will  be shown in the All School’s Day website at www.allschoolsday.com.
