  • McPherson High announced the hiring of Kellea Allison as the new Hi-Stepper dance coach in a press release Tuesday.  
    Allison is a graduate of McPherson High and McPherson College and will be employed by USD 418 next year as a kindergarten teacher at Lincoln Elementary.  
    She brings to the position a background in dance, including being four-year member and captain the Hi-Stepper Squad while at MHS and four-year member and captain of the dance squad at McPherson College.
    MHS and Coach Allison are excited to announce some changes to the Hi-Stepper program which will include a close relationship with both the MHS cheer squad and MHS marching/pep bands.
    At football games fans will see the Hi-Steppers performing with the marching band during the pre-game routine, spreading school spirit on the sidelines in cooperation with the cheer squad and performing routines at halftime.  
    During basketball season the Hi-Steppers will be on the floor performing with the pep band and spreading school spirit with the cheer squad, and performing halftime routines.
    A pre-tryout parent meeting will be held at the MHS Little Theater at 6 p.m. May 13.
    Practice sessions for those trying out will be held May 14-17, with tryouts slated for May 18, all in the MHS Auxiliary Gym.
