  • The Bethany Swede men’s tennis team swept the KCAC Individual Tournament Saturday, taking all three flights in the doubles bracket, while the McPherson College No. 2 and No. 3 doubles both came in second.
Due to rain and wet courts, no singles flights were played.
In No. 1 doubles, the Swede duo of Laurentsi Arakhamiya and Michiel Van Den Bogaert defeated Kansas Wesleyan in the quarterfinals and then the McPherson duo of Sean DeYoung and Rafael Bulnes in the semis, winning 8-5. They then downed Bethel’s Clinton Chlumsky and Jesse Voth-Gaeddert to win the championship 8-4.
DeYoung and Bulnes took third after an 8-4 win over Ottawa’s Jacob Brendemuehl and Chase Dippel.
Both the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles brackets came down to McPherson vs. Bethany, with the Swedes outlasting the Bulldogs in both.
In No. 2 doubles, the finals saw the Bethany team of James Bragg and Will Wiseman defeat McPherson’s Mark Mahan and Torsten Keil-Long by a score of 8-4.
The Swede’s Alex Sandri and Shane Huggins defeated McPherson’s Sean Dullaghan and Jordan Stewart in No. 3 doubles 8-2 in the finals.
