For the week ending May 5, 2013, the condition of Kansas range and pasture was rated as 35 percent very poor, 27 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 12 percent good, and 1 percent excellent. Hay and forage supplies were rated as 36 percent very short, 35 percent short, 29 percent adequate, and 0 percent surplus. Stock water supplies rated 22 percent very short, 26 percent short, 50 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Livestock producers are continuing supplemental feeding as pasture growth has also been slowed by the cool weather.
