  • Next week, McPherson Hospital is joining the American Nurses Association in celebrating National Nurses Week, which is May 6-12 every year. This year’s theme is “Delivering Quality and Innovation in Patient Care.”
    The purpose of the week-long celebration is to raise awareness of the value of nursing and help educate the public about the role nurses play in meeting the health care needs of the American people.
    In honor of the dedication, commitment and tireless effort of the almost 3.1 million registered nurses nationwide to promote and maintain the health of this nation, the American Nurses Association and McPherson Hospital are proud to recognize registered nurses everywhere for the quality work they provide seven days a week, 365 days a year.
    During this recognition week, there are several activities planned for McPherson Hospital and area nurses.
    Monday from 8 to 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 to 4 p.m., Hess Education Center, McPherson Hospital. Guest speaker, Melanie Simpson, PhD, RN-BC, OCN, CHPN, coordinator of the Pain Management Resource Team, University of Kansas Hospital, National Magnet Nurse of the Year 2012; presenting “Pain Management for the Patient.” Participants receive 3.5 hours FREE CNEs and light refreshments will be included.
    Thursday, noon to 1 p.m., ITV Room, McPherson Hospital, ANA Webinar, “Innovation in Nursing Practice: Are You Leading the Charge?” Participants receive 1 FREE CNE and lunch will be provided.
