  • A rough schedule, between constant interruptions due to weather and reduced practice times, left McPherson High looking slightly worn down Friday night against Winfield, as the Pups lost 3-0.
“We didn’t take our chances, we didn’t catch the breaks we needed to,” MHS coach Chris Adrian said. “For some reasons, we just took two steps back this week.”
The Vikings struck first barely a minute into the game, as Holly Hottinger knocked in a shot past goalie Shaelah White.
McPherson would get an opportunity later in the first to try and tie it, but a sure-fire goal was called back after a player stepped offsides.
Hottinger struck again three-and-a-half minutes in to the second half to make it 2-0.
The Pups fought back and had a couple of good looks at goal, but couldn’t get the shots to fall in. Winfield scored again with 15:16 left in the game.
The JV tied with Winfield 2-2. Danielle Lacy had both of McPherson’s goals in the second half.
McPherson (5-7-1) is at home Monday against Circle.
