McPherson police


At 6:57 p.m. Saturday, an officer took a report of theft that occurred sometime between August 1, 2012 and 5:55 p.m. Saturday, in the 100 block of North Charles. Stolen were some silver bars, some vehicle parts and various hand tools. Estimated losses are $4,500.

At 11:34 p.m. Saturday, an officer took a report of belated battery that occurred at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, in the 1900 block of Cochise Avenue. A small fight reportedly broke out between six individuals; three McPherson women, ages 39, 21 and 33, two McPherson men, ages 41 and 36, and a Sterling man, age 25. Minor injuries were reported, but no EMS transport was made. Police report that alcohol may have been involved.


At 12:49 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a collision in the 2100 block of East Kansas Avenue. Steven Aaron, 32, of Amarillo, Texas was in the accident. Aaron reportedly collided with the McDonald’s building. Officers later arrested Aaron on a charge of D.U.I. first offense. An $846 bond was posted.



At 1:59 a.m. Sunday, firefighters, officers and EMS personnel responded to a medical emergency in the 100 block of South Kelly. Two residents were in the home at the time of the fire, but got out. The fire started in a bedroom wall for unknown reasons. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but police report that the cause may have been electrical in nature. Assistant fire chief Rick Unruh reported that the residence suffered some smoke damage. Estimated damages are placed at $2,500.
