The Canton-Galva journalism program had a productive day recently at the Kansas Scholastic Press Association State Contest.
During opening ceremonies, both the yearbook and the news magazine were recognized as All-Kansas publications, the highest award given by the association to a yearbook or news magazine.
At a luncheon, journalism adviser Jessica Bowman was recognized by her peers with the Ad Astra Award. This award honors an individual who has displayed a significant effort to continually improve his/her journalism program or has made a significant contribution to the profession of advising in Kansas. Bowman received a $250 cash prize, a plaque and a complimentary one-year membership to the association.
At the completion of the annual journalism contest, officials announced Canton-Galva journalists had placed second in state.
