  • Three McPherson Middle School students will be attending Destination Imagination Global Finals May 21-26 in Knoxville, Tenn. They are Luke Brossard, Noah Johnson and Ashley Achilles. This competition presents framed challenges that the students will solve using math, science, engineering, problem-solving and risk-taking skills. They will represent the state of Kansas among thousands of competitors from different countries. This is the first group from McPherson to compete at the international level.
The trip has been partially funded through grants and donations from local businesses and civic group. However, their goal has not yet been reached. The Community Foundation is currently offering a dollar for dollar matching grant.
As additional fundraisers, the students are selling Crust Aways for $5 each. Crust Aways are a local invention that takes the crust off of sandwiches for those picky eaters. To purchase one of these products contact Amy Johnson 620-241-9048
There also will be a fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Little Caesars. Mention the MMS Global Finals group, and they will receive 10 percent of all sales for the night.
