  • Beverley B. Inloes, 56, of North Smithfield, R.I., passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013, at home after a prolonged illness.

  • Beverley B. Inloes, 56, of North Smithfield, R.I., passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013, at home after a prolonged illness.
    She was born on March 26, 1957, in South Boston, Va., to Dr. William A. Shelton, Sr. and Roberta (Brookes) Shelton of Boydton, Va.
    On July 28, 1984, she married Dr. Douglas S. Inloes who is originally from Lakin, Kan., and McPherson, Kan., and received a B.S. degree in chemical engineering at  the University of Kansas and a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering at Stanford University.
    In addition to her husband, Beverley is survived by her children, Jennifer Inloes of Somerville, Mass., and Jonathan Inloes of Foster City, Calif., and by her parents and two brothers, John Shelton of Boydton and Richard  Shelton of Virginia Beach.
    She is predeceased by her brother, Dr. William A. Shelton Jr.
    After receiving a B.S. degree in biological sciences at the University of Richmond and a master of life sciences degree at North Carolina State University, she worked in agricultural, medical, and pharmaceutical research before devoting her time to raising her children.
    She experienced considerable joy riding her horses with friends. Music was a significant part of her life, which included studying piano at the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music.
    She was a member of the United Methodist Church and demonstrated dignity and grace throughout her life with a vigorous spirit for living that was inspirational.
    Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Boydton United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Boydton Baptist Cemetery.
