Inman put in a gritty performance Thursday in the opening round of the Class 2-1A State Baseball Tournament, but fell to Sedan 3-2.
Sedan scored first, putting two runs across the plate in the opening inning, then added another in the fourth to make it 3-0.
Inman, however, refused to give up, scoring a run in the fifth and another in the seventh to close the gap.
The Teutons (12-10) were threatening to tie, if not go ahead, but Sedan pitcher Austin Filtingberger held on to send the Blue Devils into Friday’s semifinals.
Filtingberger struckout 15 Inman batters.
Sedan defeated Heritage Christian 7-6 in the semifinals Friday, but fell to Ell-Saline in the championship game 7-0. The win marked the first for the Cardinal baseball program.
St. Paul outlasted Heritage Christian 11-10 to take third place.
