    She was born Aug. 24, 1912, in rural Harper Township, McPherson County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Freemount Lutheran church.
    In 1935, she was united in marriage to Verner Berg and was married more than 50 years. To this union a son, James and a daughter, Joan were born.
    In 1958, she and her family moved to Lindsborg and became faithful members of Bethany Lutheran church where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Esther group, and E.L.C.A., and sang in the Messiah Chorus for 26 years. She was a nurses’ assistant at the Lindsborg Community Hospital for 18 years.
    She was preceded in death in 1989 by husband Verner Berg; father, Edward Swenson and wife Esther (Nelson) Swenson, and his second wife Ruth (Palmquist) Swenson; brothers: Chester Swenson (Irene) and Orville Swenson (Ruth); sister, Ruby Dahlsten (Clifford); half brother Duane Swenson (Marjorie), and half sister Barbara Swenson Wolf (Albert).
    Survivors include children James Berg (Carlene), Joan Leighty (Lester), granddaughters: Trina Nostrand (Monty), and children Triston, Ryland, Delany, and Grant; Heather Anderson (Bryan) and daughter Edie; and Autumn Berg; brother, Carl Swenson (Jinny – deceased); cousin, Wilma Larson, and several nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday May 30, with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Christians Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Bethany Home in Lindsborg. Burial will follow at Freemount Church Cemetery.
