  • A mill and overlay project will begin on Wednesday on Main Street.
The project will cover Main Street from Kansas Avenue to First Street. If the weather is cooperative, the project is expected to be finish by June 14.
One lane in each direction will be maintained at all times during construction. Work on the street will be done one-half at a time, eliminating parking on one side of Main Street during that time.
All side streets will be open during construction. Flaggers will block traffic as needed to perform construction.
Justin Walker, engineering aide, said the project is one of two planned for Main Street. The next, he said, includes a NovaChip project on Main Street, from Kansas Avenue south to railroad tracks near Central Christian College.
A start date on that project, he said, hasn’t been determined yet, but Walker said he hopes it’s soon.
“Hopefully it’s soon to start, so we don’t take up Main Street for too long,” he said.
