Novella Berneice Hein- Davis, 84, of McPherson, passed away at 6 a.m., Friday, May 31, peacefully, at the Cedars Ridge Houses, McPherson.
Novella was born on Feb. 19, 1929, in Baird, Texas, the daughter of Anna (Best) and John J. Duncan.
Novella attended the Albion Elementary schools in Albion, Mich., Hutchinson Elementary and Junior High School, Hutchinson, and Novella graduated in 1948 from McPherson High School, McPherson.
She was a member of Countryside Covenant Church McPherson.
Novella was a homemaker and, through the years, she worked for Woolworth, was a dispatcher for Memorial Hospital and worked for the McPherson Sentinel.
Novella was a lifetime member of the Oriental Chapter 51 Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Choral Group, Garden Club, the Junior Women’s Club, Auxiliary member of the Moose Lodge of Hutchinson and volunteered for the Save-’N-Share.
Novella B. Duncan was united in marriage to Hershel Hein on Aug. 24, 1947, at the First United Methodist Church, McPherson. He died on Oct. 21, 1969. Novella was united in marriage to Charles Robert “Charlie” Davis on Oct. 27, 1976. Charles died on Jan. 25, 2010.
Surviving family members include her children Sherry Anderson and her husband Thomas of McPherson, Susan White and her husband Curtis, of Westminster, Calif., David Hein and his wife Tanya, of Wichita, and Daniel Hein M.D. and his wife Laurie, of Wichita; her step-son, Gary Davis and his wife Marie, of Cheney; her 22 grandchildren; her 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Novella was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands Hershel Hein and Charles Davis; three brothers, Elza, Glean, and Paul Duncan; a sister, Maxine Crane; and a step-son, Larry D. Davis.
Friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Glidden- Ediger Chapel, McPherson.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the Countryside Covenant Church, McPherson, with Reverend Jon Black and Reverend Claude Fillingim officiating.
The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson.
