Leonard M. Nuessen, 83, of McPherson, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, peacefully, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
Leonard was born on Oct. 11, 1929, in Olpe, a son of Agnes M. (Miller) and Henry B. Nuessen.
Leonard attended Catholic school in Olpe.
He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church Wichita.
He served in the U.S. Army as a SP3 in the Korean War.
Leonard worked on his parents farm and was a machinist for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita until his retirement after more than 30 years.
Leonard was united in marriage to Leona Irene Perry on Aug. 5, 1961, in Miami, Okla. Leona died on Nov. 20, 2011.
He is survived by his daughter Judy Macy and husband, Mike, of McPherson; two sons, Leon Nuessen and wife, Carolyn, of Gravette, Arkansas; and Harold Nuessen and wife, Carol, of Gatesville, Texas; three sisters, Firmina Liggett, of Wichita, Bernadine Kerhes, of Olpe, and Mary Ann Coffman, of Emporia; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Leona, brothers, Eugene, Clarence Nuessen; sisters, Leona Bauer, Irene McClure, and Lenore Rice; grandson, Curtis Nuessen; a great-grandson, Blake Thompson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday June 6, 2013, with the family present at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2013, at All Saints Catholic Church, Wichita, with Fr. H. Setter officiating.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Wichita.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation or to Hospice of Reno County, and they can be sent in care of the Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home; 222 W. Euclid St.; McPherson.
