Greetings McPherson County! My name is Brooke Stamm, and I am originally from Washington County.
This fall I will be starting my junior year at Kansas State University majoring in Greenhouse & Nursery Management. I grew up outside of Washington, Kan., and was a 12-year member of the Farmington 4-H Club. While in 4-H, I enjoyed showing sheep, sewing, baking, and doing arts and crafts. In high school I was very involved in FFA, which led me to pursuing a career in horticulture. Now that I am in college I am an active member and officer of the Kansas State University Horticulture Club and Alpha of Clovia, the Kansas 4-H Scholarship House.
This summer I am working at the McPherson County Extension Office through the K-State Research & Extension intern program. I applied for this internship hoping to gain some experience working with 4-Hers and extension staff and to determine if becoming an extension agent is something I could see myself doing in the future. It is safe to say I am truly enjoying the experiences I have had thus far. I am helping out with several 4-H events throughout the summer, from 4-H Camp and the county fairs to various Family & Consumer Sciences and Agriculture activities put on by the agents in our office. I love working with people, so I am really looking forward to meeting many people in the community this summer. If you see me around be sure to say hello!
Lindsey Friesen is a McPherson County Extension agent for 4-H youth development.
