Central Christian College has signed 5-foot-7 senior guard Ashlyn Garza from Spring, Texas, to play for the CCC women's basketball team in 2013.
Garza played high school basketball at Oak Ridge High School in Conroe, Texas, where as a Senior was selected All-District 14-5A 2nd team.
Ashlyn averaged 5.5 points a game along with 1.2 steals for her senior year.
"Ashlyn was a valuable part of our program and will be missed very much,” Oak Ridge coach Molly Gipson said. “She never gave up on her goal to play basketball at the next level so I am very proud of her. She will bring some exceptional qualities to Central Christian College."
In addition to her abilities on the basketball court, Ashlyn works hard in the classroom. To date she is carrying a 3.9 High School GPA.
"Ashlyn fits well with what we are trying to do here at Central,” Tiger had coach Robert Lancaster said.
“She works hard and gets after it on the floor. We are expecting big things from Ashlyn over the next few years."
Ashlyn is the daughter of Andres and Pamela Garza and is planning on majoring in a health related field.
