  • The Canton-Galva Babe Ruth team claimed first place in the Cottonwood Valley League with a sweep of Marion Wednesday night.

  •  The Canton-Galva Babe Ruth team claimed first place in the Cottonwood Valley League with a sweep of Marion Wednesday night.
    Tanner Klingensmith picked up the game one win 15-5. He gave up three runs off four hits, struck out four and walked five. Reed Wiens pitched the last inning, giving up three hits and two runs.
    Ryan Grant blasted a three-run homer and scored three runs, himself. Klingensmith helped his own cause with a double and three runs scored. Hunter Pearson also added a double.
    Ethan Loyd and Nick Bray both had two hits and three runs scored for Canton-Galva.
    Bray won game two for Canton-Galva 12-4. He had a no-hitter working into the fourth, but gave up two hits. He finished with three runs off two hits, four strikeouts and one walk.
    Grant wrapped up the game, giving up one unearned run and striking out one.
    Pearson led Canton-Galva’s hitting with two hits and two RBI’s.
    Canton-Galva is next in action Monday against Chase County.
