  • Finis “Buck” Fielding, a longtime Cleveland area resident, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013, in the V.A. Medical Center in Muskogee, Okla., at the age of 77 years.
The son of the late William Lot Fielding and Ethel Christine (Pollock) Fielding, Buck was born on Sept. 14, 1935, in Quay, Okla. He was reared and educated in Quay, Okla., graduating from Quay High School in 1953. Buck worked for Sun Oil Company before enlisting into the United States Army in 1958. He served in Korea before receiving his honorable discharge in 1960. Following his military duty, Buck lived in Canton, Kan., where he worked for Kahn Oil Company. He moved back to Oklahoma in 1978 where he worked for James Oil until 1981 when he began working for Jett Oil, which moved him to Lamesa, Texas, where he worked as a Production Superintendent. In 1992 Buck retired and returned to the Cleveland area, where he lived until his death.
Buck was united in marriage to Martha Mae Welborn on Aug. 2, 1958, in Cushing, Okla., and to this union three children, Lisa, Kelly and Kerry, were born.
Buck had been a member of the Assembly of God in Yale for the past six years. He was an avid OU football fan, and an antique bottle collector. Buck was a man that would always take time to listen to what you had to say. He would always try to find the good in any situation and you would never hear him complain. Above all else, Buck loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 55 years, Martha, of the home; three children, Lisa Unruh and her husband Bill of Canton, Kan., Kelly Fielding of Lamesa, Texas, and Kerry Fielding and his wife Alesia of Ramona, Okla.; two sisters, Beverly Strader of Cushing, and Berniece Walling and her husband Ralph of Yale; 13 grandchildren, Shane Unruh, Stacey Unruh, Shandra Unruh, Samuel Unruh, Karissa Childress and husband Alan, Kara Stephens, Kristen Fielding, Klayton Fielding, Kenzie Fielding, Kyle Fielding and wife Beth, Kenton Fielding, Kevin Fielding, and Arika Fielding; seven great-grandchildren, Daken Baker, Myles Baker, Ava Childress, Hadley Stephens, Kaleb Fielding, Adisynn Fielding, and Chase Wescott; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by four sisters, Beatrice Stromme, Marion Sue Burt, Charlene Zumwalt, and Evelyn Weldon; and five brothers, James “Sam” Fielding, Tom Fielding, Lesley Allen Fielding, Dr. William L. Fielding, Jr., and Walter LeRoy Fielding.
