Donald "Donnie" Lee Hunter, 68, of McPherson, Kan., passed away at 6:34 p.m., Friday, June 14, peacefully, at Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center, Wichita, Kan.
Donnie was born in Mena, Arkansas on Sept. 29, 1944, the son of Mildred Marie (Dennis) and Clinton Arthur Hunter.
Donnie attended the Lyons grade school, and Lyons Junior High School, Lyons, Kan., and graduated from Little River High School, Little River, Kan.
Donnie honorably served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam Era.
Through the years Donnie worked for the Certain - Teed Products as a machine operator, set-up, and was a warehouseman when he retired.
Surviving family members include his sister Mary Wille, of Haysville, Kan., and his brother, Robert "Bob" Hunter, of Hutchinson, Kan.; his nephews and niece, James Wille and his wife Kathy, of Ponder, Texas, Doug Wille, of Haysville, Kan., Martha Linsner and her husband Jeff, of Wichita, Kan., and Dennis Wille and his wife Shari, of Haysville, Kan.; several great-nieces and great-nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Mildred Hunter; and his sister, Wanda Hunter.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kan., with Pastor Bob Park officiating. Military honors will be presented by members of the American Legion Post 24 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 both of McPherson.
