The McPherson doubles teams took three of the four championships during last week’s McPherson Junior Open Tennis Tournament held at McPherson High School.

The boys 14 doubles team of Jarrod Nowak and Nolan Schrader defeated the duo on Hadley Hageman and Patrick Munsey, also of McPherson, by a score of 8-3 to win that title.

In the girls 14 doubles, Ellea Ediger and Rachel Ivers of McPherson defeated Brayden Steven (Wichita) and Quincy Bair (Shawnee Mission) 8-0. Emily Ediger and Camry Holle of McPherson defeated Taylor Swartzendruber and Ellea Ediger of McPherson 8-3 to claim the girls 16 doubles crown.

The girls 18 double championship was claimed by Newton’s Hannah Carlgren and Arkansas City’s Ally Burr, who defeated Swartzendruber and Brooke Bate 8-3.

In singles competition, Jarrod Nowak brought home the championship for McPherson in the boys 14 division with a 6-3, 6-0 win over McPherson’s Andrew Snell. Ellea Ediger defeated Burr 6-2, 6-2 in the girls 18 division to claim that championship.
