Walter Keith Gove, 67, of Marquette, Kan., died at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, due to injuries sustained from a 2 vehicle automobile accident, at the Highway 140 & 141 junction in Ellsworth, County, Kansas.
Walter was born in Hartford, Conn., on Aug. 24, 1945, the son of the Rita (Whipple) Gove and Wesley Gove.
Walter attended the Granby grade schools and graduated from Granby High School, Granby, Conn.
Walter was a cowboy at heart, he loved horses, the open range, and was a farrier. Walter was the owner and operator of the Goverland Stage Coach Company and provided stage coach wedding services upon request. He also had a trail riding business at the Kanopolis Lake. Walter also had the opportunity to be an actor and he had a part in the movie called, Kansas Moon, the Last Hunt.
Surviving family members include his children, Keith T. Gove, of West Granby, Conn., and Todd A. Gove, of Granby, Conn.; his sister, Judy Adamick, of Richsprings, S.C.; his niece, Jodi Cromer, of Richsprings, S.C.; his grandchildren, Ashley Gove, Shane Gove, Danny Gove, and Samantha Gove all of Conn.; his companion, Dorothy "Doje" Kosek, of Marquette, Kan.; other relatives and a host of friends.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Rita (Whipple) Gove Watson and Wesley Gove
Cremation has taken place and the family will be holding a memorial service back in Connecticut.
Come and celebrate Walt and share some memories at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the Kanopolis State Park East Shore Open Air Chapel. Come by horse or come by foot, all are welcome.
