  • The McPherson USD 418 Board of Education approved an increase of $0.10 per meal during its regular meeting Monday.
The cost for elementary meals will be $2.45, middle school $2.55, high school $2.65 and adult $3.20.
Meal prices have remained the same for the past two years.
During the meeting, Associate Superintendent Chris Ruder said federal guidelines passed last year included a goal to make school meal prices consistent throughout the country. Districts cannot increase its prices more than $0.10 per year to reach that goal.
USD 418 only needed to increase its prices by $0.08 according to this timeline, but instead rounded it to an even $0.10. By following this timeline, the district will continue to receive federal reimbursements.
