  • Canton-Galva’s Babe Ruth team continued it’s dominance Friday night, sweeping Hillsboro 11-5 and 26-2.
    Ryan Grant went the distance in game one, picking up six strike outs while giving up five runs, three of which were earned, off one hit. He struck out six.
    The Eagles trailed 2-1 after the first inning, but a two-run second inning put them up on top. They then erupted for eight runs in the third inning to put the game out of reach for Hillsboro.
    Ethan Loyd had the hot bat, getting three hits and two RBIs.
    Nick Bray, Reed Wiens and Hunter Pearson all had two hits, with Bray earning three RBIs in the process.
    Pearson and Tanner Klingensmith both had doubles.
    Wiens went two innings to earn the win in game two, which saw Canton-Galva rip off 13 first-inning runs.
    They added five in the second and nine in the third before the game was mercy ruled.
    Wiens had two earned runs on two hits and three strike outs. Jordan Gagnebin finished out the game with one strike out, one walk and no runs or hits.
    Loyd once again drove the offense, going 3-for-3 with three runs. Bray went 2-for-2 with three RBIs, while Reed and Lane Wiens both also had three RBIs.
    Canton-Galva was back in action Monday night against Peabody. Results were unavailable at press time.
