Doris Alberta Fercking Stiawalt, 84 resident of “Manor Care,” Wichita; passed into her Lord’s hands on June 28, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude M. Stiawalt, her parents, Lillie and Henry Fercking, her sister, Dorothy Gabel, and brothers, Roy and Ray Fercking. Surviving her are daughters Karen Dodds, Wichita, and Norma Pett (Boyd), San Jose, Calif.; son, Marlin Stiawalt (Traci), Humboldt, Iowa, and son, Kent Stiawalt (Claudia), McPherson. Grandchildren: Brie Dodds, Brian and Christian Stiawalt, Amber Stiawalt, and Lindsey Martin; 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She was a member of the VFW women’s auxiliary, McPherson. She enjoyed bowling, crafts and teaching crafts to others. She served several functions on the board of Mobil Village in Texas. Doris managed many businesses including a restaurant and the Frigid Creme in Ness City, the marina and other business entities at Cedar Bluff Lake and the Skylark Motel in McPherson. Doris and Claude retired to Aransas pass, Texas, for about 29 years before she moved back to Wichita. She always was a good mother and good to her children.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the First Baptist Church, Ness City, with burial in the Ness City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society. Words of sympathy and support may be left for the family at www.fitzgerald
