Central Christian College softball coach Chad Kerr has added two players to his roster for the 2014 season.
Kerr has signed Chandler Gerk, a 5-foot-5 catcher from Holyoke, Colo., and Tara Kemp, a corner infielder from El Dorado.
Gerk letter four years and was selected to the All-State team in Colorado three seasons while attending Holyoke High School, and playing for coach Ashley Clayton.
"Chandler is a terrific young lady and softball player that I can't wait to get on campus this Fall and start working with her,” Kerr said. “She has a tremendous work ethic which will only make her better and she is exceptional right now. She should come right in and compete for many innings at the Catching position and when not doing that might be used in other roles."
Gerk is an outstanding student in the classroom as well. She will graduated this spring with a 3.4 cumulative GPA and plans on pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy while attending Central Christian.
Kemp, meanwhile, is a four year letter winner for the Flint Hills High School Mustangs and head coach Kent Harms.
In addition to being a four year letter winner, Kemp was also named South Central Border League Honorable Mention.
"Tara is a great student, player, and all around young lady,” Kemp said. “She will come in and make a case for playing time mainly at third base, but also some first base. I can't wait to start working with her development this fall."
Not only has Tara been a standout on the diamond, she has also excelled in the classroom as well. She finished up at Flinthills High School with a cumulative GPA of 3.95. Her plans are to major in Accounting while at Central.
The duo will join their new teammates in August when new freshmen report to campus for orientation.
