Bethany College announced the signing of Paulina Bledsoe of Gilbert, Ariz., to a letter of intent to play women's basketball for the Swedes during the 2013-2014 academic year.
Bledsoe, a 5-foot-8 guard, is transferring to Bethany from Brown Mackie College in Salina where she played basketball for two years. Bledsoe was on the Dean's List and a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
Prior to attending college, Bledsoe attended Williams Field High School where she was a four-year starter in basketball.
She earned East Sky Conference Honorable Mention honors, East Sky Conference Second Team honors, Defensive Player of the Year honors and played in the Final Four State Championship.
"We are very happy that Paulina has chosen to become a Swede," Swede coach Brett Morehouse said. "She is an excellent student and will be a great representative of Bethany College both on and off the court. With her length and quickness, we think that Paulina can make an immediate impact on defense and that her offensive skills will fit nicely into our philosophy of attacking the rim.”
Morehouse added he felt Bledsoe feels she still has something to prove.
“She will be given that opportunity in our program," Morehouse said.
Bledsoe is the daughter of Ronald and Alma Bledsoe. She has a 3.51 grade point average and is majoring in athletic training.
