  • McPherson’s Griffin Myers was the toast of the Post 24 Juniors Tuesday night, as he came up with four RBIs and shut down Salina from the mound during the final three innings of a come from behind 15-10 road win.
The Eagles built what seemed like an insurmountable lead after the first three innings, leading 10-3 going into the McPherson fourth.
Post 24 (18-4) went to work, though, with Caleb Schmidt knocking in the first of what would turn out to be a six-run rally for McPherson. Myers knocked a single to right field that scored Cody Starkel and brought Post 24 to within one, 10-9.
Salina had no answer in the bottom of the fourth and Myers poured in on in the fifth inning, driving in three runs off a triple to right field. McPherson scored two more in the fifth and added a run in the seventh.
Myers came into the fifth inning and worked the final three innings to pick up the win, facing 10 batters and giving up only two hits and no runs. He walked none and struck out two.
Nelson Steinert started, going two innings and giving up six runs off five hits. Jacob Loecker took over in the third inning in relief, giving up four runs, all earned, off three hits. He walked four and struck out one.
The Junior Legion is back in action tonight with a road doubleheader against the Salina Hawks. First pitch is at 6 p.m.
