  • Larry Allen Walker passed away at the age of 72 on June 25, 2013, at the Harper Hospital.
    He was born on Aug. 14, 1940, in McPherson, to James H. and Verda (Hassman) Walker.
    He graduated from McPherson High School where he went on to receive further education and received his Mechanics Certificate.
    He later moved to Harper, where he worked for Wedman Ford for 47 years as a mechanic. He continued working at the dealership as it became Lubbers Ford. He met and married Barbara Ann Maninger on Oct. 15, 1966. He also was a member of the Harper Volunteer Fire Department for many years, active in Harper County 4-H, and was a hunters safety instructor for many years. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and boating.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Verda Walker; and his wife Barbara.
    He is survived by his brothers, Clint Walker and his wife, Lyndel, of Hesston; and William Walker of Conway Springs; sister, Barbara Estrada and husband Francisco of Harper; nephews and nieces, Chad Walker, Tony Ballard, Natasha Walker, Lisa Moreno, Chiann Silks, Hanna Nicholson, Amanda Walker; and a host of other relatives and friends.
    Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Harper United Methodist Church in Harper, with Pastor Haydock officiating.
    Memorials may be given in Larry’s name to the Larry Walker Memorial Fund, Harper Volunteer Fire Department or to the Harper County 4-H and sent in care of the funeral home.
