  • The Central Christian College men's soccer and men's tennis teams have landed Blue Ridge Christian School standout J.D. Williams for next season.
Williams is a native of Raytown, Missouri where he attended and graduated from Blue Ridge Christian this past spring.
Williams was a four year letter winner for BRCS soccer coach Larry Becker and the Warriors. Blue Ridge didn't offer tennis as a varsity sport, but Williams took it upon himself to develop his game on his own.
On the pitch, Williams is a 5-foot-10, 150 pound defender who will compete for a spot on the CCC defensive line that was mainly seniors last fall.
"We are very excited about J.D.'s desire to come to CCC and play multiple sports,” Tiger soccer coach Aaron Hoxie said. “His willingness to give many hours to the school's athletic program is valiant. On the field, he is a scrappy player, who is willing to get stuck into any tackle. He is going to give us options in flanking areas."
On the tennis side of things, CCC head coach Jeremy Nelson expects Williams to challenge for a varsity spot next spring.
"J.D. is a tremendous athlete,” Nelson said. “He is also very disciplined and a quick learner. I expect him to come in and work hard for a spot in our top six next season."
Williams is also a standout in the classroom. He graduated from Blue Ridge with a 4.0 cumulative grade point average.
He plans on studying Sports Management while attending CCC. J.D. is the son of Ron and Mei Williams of Raytown, Missouri.
He will report to training camp on Aug. 14 to prepare for the fall soccer season.
