Bethany College announced the signing of Arnie (AJ) Hayes Jr., Denver, Colo., to a letter of intent to play men's basketball at Bethany College for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Hayes, a 6-foot-1 guard, comes to Bethany from Montebello High School where he played basketball all four years.
During his senior season he had an average of 13 points per game, three rebounds per game, shot 45 percent from the field, 80 percent from the free throw line and 49 percent from three point distance.
He earned the Denver Foundation Scholarship and was captain of the basketball team his senior year.
"We are pleased to have AJ Hayes choose to continue his education at Bethany College and become a part of Bethany basketball,” Bethany coach Clair Oleen said. “He is a fine young man who comes to us from a super family. AJ had a fine basketball career at Montebello High School in Denver, Colorado."
Hayes is the son of Arnie and Candace Hayes and plans to major in criminal justice.
