  • The Bethany Swedes have announced the signing of Salina Central High School standout Madison Shetlar for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Shetlar was named to the All-AVCTL Academic Team, earned All-County Honorable Mention honors and was a member of the team that made a state appearance her senior year. Her stats included 2.6 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game and 1.5 assists per game.
In addition to basketball, Shetlar also ran cross country and track, making a state appearance in track her senior year.
Shetlar also picked up numerous academic honors, which include National Honor Society, National Scholar Athlete Award and Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete Award. "Maddy is the type of player who does all the little things that are necessary to win basketball games," Swede head coach Brett Morehouse said. "However, she has just started to scratch the surface of her true potential. I really think her best years of basketball are ahead of her."
Shetlar is the daughter of John and Deb Shetlar. She has a 3.89 grade point average and plans to major in art secondary education.
