  • United Way of McPherson County has awarded grants to four area preschools for scholarships to students demonstrating financial need.
Funding totaling $5,861.25 was provided to Good Beginnings Preschool and Sonshine Preschool in McPherson; Mustard Seeds Preschool in Marquette; and Cradles to Crayons in Moundridge.
The preschool scholarship program was established in 2007 to address the goal of providing quality kindergarten readiness programs and represents one of several United Way community impact projects. Since its conception, the program has funded all requests for a total of $28,270.
The scholarship program is partially funded through designated endowed funds held at the McPherson County Community Foundation.
Managed by a volunteer board of directors, United Way of McPherson County supports human service organizations by funding and promoting programs addressing issues related to health, education and income.
