Evelyn Virginia Hill, 102, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 10:50 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, peacefully, at Cedars Courts.
Evelyn was born on Sept. 11, 1910, in rural McPherson, the daughter of Olive May (Meador) and Samuel Henry Horn.
Evelyn attended the Victory country school and McPherson High School, graduating in 1928. Evelyn then received her Teaching Certificate from McPherson College, McPherson.
Evelyn was a member of First Baptist Church McPherson.
Evelyn was a home maker, and she taught at the Champion Country School, Conway School, and then the Grove School.
Evelyn was united in marriage to Ivan A. Hill on June 7, 1936, in rural McPherson. Ivan died on Feb. 10, 1996.
She is survived by her children, Lois May Donaldson and her husband Bruce K., of Silver Spring, Maryland and Robert Dean Hill, of Counce Dam, Tenn.; her five grandchildren, Lexie Laura Donaldson, Kenneth Bruce Donaldson, Sara Cynthia Roncaglia, Matthew Alexander Hill, and Michael Robert Hill; her three great-grandchildren, Matteo Roncaglia, Olivia Roncaglia, and Bridget Roncaglia; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Olive Horn; her brothers, Luther Dale, Galen Lee, and Audean James Horn.
Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, McPherson.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, with Pastor Chris Whitacre officiating.
