  • The start of the fall sports season is drawing nearer and the Bethany College football and volleyball programs are ready to show off for their fans.
The football team will debut their new look under first-year coach Manny Matsakis tonight at 8 m.m. at Anderson Stadium.
The team will begin warming up at 7:15 p.m., with Matsakis to give an overview of the team starting at 7:55 p.m.
A meet-and-greet session with the players will be held afterwards at 9 p.m.
The Swedes are also playing a scrimmage at Mid America Nazarene on Saturday at 10 a.m.
They officially kick off their season on Sept. 7, as they travel to Southwestern Assemblies of God University, Waxahachie, Texas. Game time is 12 p.m.
The Swedes volleyball team is hitting the court for an inter-squad scrimmage tomorrow. The scrimmage begins at 4:30 p.m., and students, staff, faculty, and fans are invited to attend.
"The girls are ready to play and compete," head coach Nathalea Stephenson said. "This will give us a good opportunity to watch them and to see who is ready to step up for the challenge."
The inter-squad scrimmage will replicate an in-season match, and will include officials, line judges, stat keeping, and scorekeepers.
The Swedes officially open their 2013 season at the Oklahoma Wesleyan Tournament Aug. 30-31. Bethany plays Dallas Christian College on Aug. 30, at 1 p.m., and Oklahoma Wesleyan University at 5 p.m.
The squad ends the tournament with a matchup against Mid America Christian University on Aug. 31, at 1 p.m.
