  • The McPherson YMCA will reopen today after spending the last week updating the facility and its equipment.
The new equipment includes Precor brand cardio machines including treadmills, ellipticals, and adaptive motion trainers.
The equipment upgrade also includes new Cybex weight machines.
Upgrading hasn’t solely consisted of the fitness machines, though.
The wooden surfaces of the gymnasium, racquetball court and aerobics studio have all been refinished, and both swimming pools have been drained and cleaned, with one getting a new coat of paint.
The facility also has had much in the way of freshening up via paint, McPherson Family YMCA CEO Gwyn Muto said.
“We’ve done a lot of painting, and we’ve changed the color scheme in the wellness center,” Muto said. “We’ve also painted a lot of the other walls throughout the building to touch up all sorts of marks.”
Muto said the upgrades will allow the facility to serve the community better.
“We had equipment that was very old,” Muto said, “and the YMCA board has been a huge help in making this project happen.”
The funding for the YMCA upgrade project came from donations from the community, Muto said.
“We are very grateful, and we would like to thank the McPherson community for all its support,” she said.
