The Moundridge High School Volleyball team went 1-1 to open up the season, picking up a win against Conway Springs and then falling to Hesston in a Triangular Tuesday at MHS.
The Wildcats defeated Conway Springs in straight sets 25-15, 25-20. Moundridge started slow on the blocking game, but picked up by the end of the game, according to head coach Kelsi Chisholm. The Wildcats then started off down to Hesston, but kept competing before falling 19-25. The second set saw Moundridge get down 8-1, which was too much of an obstacle to overcome and they fell 11-25.
“Hesston played well and we couldn’t get momentum,” Chisholm said.
Brooke Holloway led the team with 14 kills, followed by Mackenzie Suderman and Michelle Schrag, who both had 12.
The Wildcats play Saturday in the Inman preseason tournament. Their first match is against Sedgwick at 9 a.m.
