The 2013 season kicked off for McPherson College cross country last weekend as they bring back alumni on Saturday.
The women's team ran a 4K while the men took it 2000 meters longer for their 6K.
No results were available, per NAIA regulations.
The Lady Bulldogs were picked by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference coaches to finish fourth at the KCAC Championships, scheduled for Nov. 9.
They return the majority of their 2012 squad including Preseason All-KCAC athletes Aspen Frey and Savana Cross. The team added seven newcomers including transfer Grace Viuhkola and freshman Erika Doty.
On the men's side, they have two athletes back in Brandon Sherier and Kwan Leung. McPherson will sport 14 newbies, which brought about their eighth place ranking in the KCAC Preseason poll. Of the new 'Dogs, 11 are freshmen including Dixon Cooney and MHS's Corey Long. Mt. Hood Community College transfer Chris Newell will also contribute early on for the Bulldogs.
“Both tems will be improved in the KCAC,” Bulldog coach Cameron Magnall said. “With 28 on the roster, we will add much needed depth this year.”
McPherson will have a week off before heading to Hutchinson for the Hutchinson County Community College Invitational, scheduled for Sept. 14.
