  • The McPherson High School football season got off to a hot start Tuesday, as the Bullpup freshmen opened up the offense in a 58-36 dismantling of Abilene at McPherson Stadium.

  • The McPherson High School football season got off to a hot start Tuesday, as the Bullpup freshmen opened up the offense in a 58-36 dismantling of Abilene at McPherson Stadium.
    Quarterback Casen Hoover led the Pup attack with five touchdown passes, two of which thrown to Caleb Spaich. Brock Malm, Jack Reifschneider and Raine Reitsma all also grabbed TD passes, as well.
    Hoover scrambled for a touchdown and a 2-point conversion in the beatdown of the Cowboys, while TK Mukwindidza also ran for two touchdowns and a 2-point conversion. Mike Saverino also had a 2-pointer.
    The freshmen are next in action Sept. 9 against Great Bend. Game time is at 4:15 p.m. at McPherson Stadium.
